Vivek Ramaswamy, a former biotech entrepreneur and a Republican presidential candidate, announced that he would accept Bitcoin donations for his campaign.

Ramaswamy followed the example of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who became the first presidential candidate to accept Bitcoin as an election donation two days earlier.

Ramaswamy displayed a QR code at Bitcoin 2023, a conference in Miami, that directed donors to a website that accepted Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies through BitPay, a payment service provider.

Ramaswamy said he wanted to make the 2024 election a referendum on fiat currency and embrace the ideals that America was founded on.
